Our Open Adult program is carefully designed to improve flexibility, reduce stress and increase overall wellness for former or aspiring dancers at all ability levels. Every class is educational and challenging for working professionals and anyone, including beginners, interested in dance.
Adult Ballet
This class covers basic ballet positions, steps, and vocabulary by focusing on the student's awareness of proper posture and body alignment. Standing barre work and center floor exercises enhance coordination, strength, balance and flexibility. Participants also develop a sense of musical awareness and movement quality. No prior ballet experience is required.
Progressing Ballet Technique
PBT uses equipment to help develop an understanding of your body in space while strengthening your muscles. A fit ball (provided by Ballet East) is the central apparatus used in PBT. Using the fit ball improves your proprioception, which is your body’s understanding of where you are in space.
You will develop a repertoire of exercises, some that correlate to ballet steps and others for posture and general placement. Many PBT exercises involve lying on your back with your legs on the fit ball and your body lifted in a plank position. Other equipment for PBT includes a Theraband to provide resistance and pressure and a smaller ball to help engage the inner thigh squeeze!
As with any technique introduced to our adult ballet students, PBT is delivered using a steady approach with lots of support and guidance, building strength through your body in a progressive way that is easily manageable for your stage of learning.

We welcome all adults regardless of whether or not they have had former dance training. We only ask that you keep a positive attitude, open mind and be ready to move!

We recommend bringing a yoga mat, socks or ballet slippers, and a water bottle.

We ask adults to wear something they are comfortable moving in. What you would wear to the gym, like leggings and a tank top, is appropriate. If you have longer hair, we recommend you pull it back into a ponytail, braid, etc. Clips may not be comfortable for floor work.

We typically follow the Palm Beach County Academic school calendar for extended holidays. Please refer to your client portal, which will be available once you enroll for a complete list of school closures.
